P10-million and public apology - that’s what Catriona Gray’s camp is demanding from a local tabloid who spreads her fake nu. de photos on their Facebook page and website.
From the demand letter of Miss Universe 2018's lawyer, they complained to Bulgar for the alleged malicious post that slandered Catriona.
The said article came out on July 19 with the title, ‘After ng bantang pasabog ni Clint… Nu. de photos ni CATRIONA, kalat na!’.
According to the beauty queen's team, the article was libelous because the screenshot of the controversial photo was edited and the original photo is from an advertisement for a clothing and lifestyle brand.
“In cases where obscene images are disseminated, uploaded, or shared through social media accounts, the person or institution that shared it is liable under the law for violation of Cybercrime Prevention Act,” stated in a letter sent to Bulgar.
In addition, the said tabloid humiliated the name and reputation of Catriona, a well-known public figure after winning Miss Universe.
As a result, the beauty queen demanded P10 million in damages and a public apology from writer Melba Llanera, showbiz editor Janice Navidad, and the tabloid Facebook administrator.
Bulgar was given a 10-day grace period to fulfill Catriona's demand, and in the event that this is not done, the said tabloid will be prosecuted.
